My representative work is Basic English for Vocational College This book was specially edited for the students of non-English majors in Higher Vocational college. This book includes 6 units. There is a theme in each unit. They are “a new s

2、tart”, “friendship in college”, “managing your spare time”, “making good use of your money”, “college activities”, “career plan”. Each unit covers 7 modules. They are “warming up”, “ listening and speaking”, “reading”, “grammar”,“practical reading”, “practical writing”,”extra reading”. What is the g

3、uiding thought for you to write this textbook?This textbook was specially written for the students of non-English majors in higher vocational colleges. I designed the book according to Education Ministrys document published by Higher Education Press in Oct. 2000: the title of document is Basic Requi

4、rements of English Course Teaching in Higher Vocational Education, combining the reality of the students in higher vocational colleges and their English class hours. In Education Ministrys document, the following points were stressed:English courses should not only lay a good language foundation, bu

5、t also pay attention to the cultivation of practical language skills, especially the ability to use English to deal with daily and foreign business activities.Pay attention to the law of language learning, correctly handle the relationship between listening, speaking, reading, writing and translatio

6、n, and ensure the coordinated development of various language abilities. At present, special attention should be paid to strengthening the training of listening and speaking skills.After completing the teaching tasks stipulated in the basic requirements, we should combine professional study and set

7、up professional English courses, which can not only ensure the continuity of students English learning during school, but also make the practical application of their English. stipjuleit kntnjuti Actively introduce and use modern teaching methods such as computer multimedia and network technology to

Organize students to participate in rich and colorful English extracurricular activities, create a good English learning atmosphere, stimulate students consciousness and enthusiasm to learn English. 9、is book. OK, Let me analyze the reality of the students in higher vocational colleges: The students of vocational colleges are from high schools or secondary vocational schools. These from high schools are a little better than those from secondary vocational schools, Yet, their English scores are mo

10、stly less than 60% in the College Entrance Examination/Gaokao. It means that their English is still at a low level. So I designed the textbook based on the difficulty of junior high school English level, focus on English practical application and Leading correct ideology. To carry out English practi

11、cal application. I designed practical reading and practical writing in each unit. In unit 1, The theme of the reading and writing is resume and application. In unit 2, it is about traveling instruction, road signs in English or destination board. In Unit3, it is about timetable or schedule. In unit

12、4, it is about consumption and budget. In unit 5, it is about poster and notice. In unit 6. it is about application for jobs. To lead correct ideology I designed extra-reading article in each unit. In unit 1, the title of extra-reading article is A Bad Boy, that is a story how a bad boy became an ex

13、cellent youth。In unit 2, the title of the article is Library. A library was described as a lover. How did a student fall in love with her. My aim is to tell students that study is more important than anything else. In unit 3 , the article is Time Managing Apps, This is to tell student to finish thei

14、r work on time through using time management apps. The purpose is to develop students good habits . In unit 4, the article is lottery. My aim is to lead student to be the master of money, instead of the slave of money. My aim is to let student feel that helping the poor or giving public service is t

15、he most meaningful. In unit 5 the article is Extracurricular Activities. I want to tell students that joining volunteering activities is very glorious lris . In unit 6, the article is Short tale of career planning. My aim is to tell students social skill is much more important than any material weal

16、th. It is my main purpose to let students develop correct ideology. Besides theory basis, and reality of students, there is still another thing to think about. It is about English class hours. As we know, there are 21 learning weeks a term. However, for the freshmen of colleges, Normally It is in th

17、e end of Sept for them to start their college life. And then they need to do military training and they have one week national days off and other something else, So,at most, they have 14 weeks to have English class. For the new student of non-English majors, they have only 2 classes one week. 1 unit

18、 needs 4 or 6 classes. So 6 units are enough for one term. In conclusion, I designed this book according to the government document , reality of the students and English class hours. What is your teaching ideas? Teaching is art and teaching is science. Teaching not only has a scientific foundation,

19、but also can be studied by scientific methods. It is teachers chief task how to use observation, experiment and other scientific methods to study teaching in order to achieve the purpose of effective teaching.Effective teaching refers to the concrete progress or development of students after a perio

20、d of teaching. This progress or development includes both subject knowledge and ideology. Many years ago, a student secretly rewrote his score. He changed his 60 score into 80 During class break when I left the score book of his class on the podium pdim and I went out of the classroom. I got very an

21、gry at him. After thinking carefully, I realized it was not his fault completely. It is mine. From then on, I have infiltrated ideology education in my teaching. That issue have never happened again. All students are individuals, and everyone learns in their own unique junik way. I try to use multip

22、le methods of teaching (linguistic, visual, auditory, kinesthetic kansetk ) to reach students.
