3、ia Renewable Energy Technology Transfer Cooperation (RETT) is a 4-year Technology Transfer project which aims to facilitate the development and transfer of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) from China to Ghana and Zambia along with training,capacity building, know-how and best practices. Under th

4、e framework of UNDP, China has developed approaches to ensure that technology transfer directly addresses the development needs specific to Ghana and Zambia respectively. It is further used as a launch pad for nurturing and building the capacity of knowledge networks to promote country-driven techno

5、logy transfer, local renewable energy industry capacity, and private sector development. This project is one of the first examples of South-South Cooperation (SSC) between China and African countries. The Administrative Centre for Chinas Agenda 21 (ACCA21) on behalf of Ministry of Science and Techno

6、logy (MoST) of China is the Chinas executive entity and is responsible for the organization and implementation of the activities of the Chinese side.Building on prior activities under the project, China will set up a SSC Center. It is contemplated that the China project management unit will be folde

7、d into the SSC Center and the SSC Center will take over operations for the project on the China side. The SSC Center is expected to become a hub for development of Chinas approach to South-South Cooperation with an initial focus on Ghana and Zambia and Renewable Energy but with the potential to expa

8、nd and cover a broader range of Chinas South-South policies and engagement. The introduction video and the training materials developed under this ToR will contribute to the later project events and training sessions of Chinese and African stakeholders in coordination with MoST on policy, market and

9、 cultural aspects of doing business in Africa.Objective of the AssignmentThe main objective of the assignment is to develop training materials in Chinese and English on SSC and RET and an introduction video on the partnership between China and UN by three consultants for Task 1-3 and one institution

10、 (university, academic institute, research institute, industrial association etc.) for Task 4 according to this ToR. The introduction video will be played at various event as a publicity vehicle for the project; and training materials developed will be put up on the project website and handed out as

11、 training manuals to participants in the later training sessions, together serving as a practical guide to SSC and RET to increase the stakeholders knowledge on the topics, so to support the SSC Center and related stakeholders by building up Chinese capacities in designing and implementing SSC and R

12、ET projects.Requested ServicesUnder the guidance and supervision of the Project Manager (PM), the five institutions shall perform the following tasks:Task 1: Prepare training materials on solar energy technology, to be available both in video-course and printed forms; and accordingly organize a trai

13、ning session for 30 Chinese and African stakeholder participants:Conduct an overview of opportunities and challenges of solar technology market in Africa and present an analysis of case studies of the best practices of solar projects in Africa; Conduct a case study of the major business models of su

14、ccessful solar projects in Africa and provide guiding principles of business development in the African context; identify possible investors and financing mechanism for future solar projects and collaboration, such as Public-Private Partnership etc.;Conduct an overview of the policy/legislative, ins

15、titutional and cultural environment that are relevant to the solar technology transfers in Africa; and accordingly identify the relevant barriers to solar technology transfers and more efficient use of solar power in Africa; and provide advices for companies to overcome the barriers and build an ena

16、bling environment for solar technology transfer and use in Africa;Examine the business models of socially responsible solar projects explored and developed by foreign companies in Africa with a focus on those by Chinese companies; conduct an analysis of the potential business benefits resulting from

17、 the adoption of responsible business models and provide suggestions to Chinese entrepreneurs on how to work with stakeholders from the public sector, the private sector and non-profit sector in order to design and develop responsible and sustainable business models in African context;Design and org

18、anize a training session for 30 Chinese and African stakeholder participants and prepare the training manuals in both Chinese and English, to be disseminated among the stakeholders for the training session; Based on the training materials developed as described above, conduct the training courses an

19、d record the courses, to be uploaded on the website of the project.Task 2: Prepare training materials on biomass energy technology, to be available both in video-course and printed forms; and accordingly organize a training session for 30 Chinese and African stakeholder participants:Conduct an overv

20、iew of opportunities and challenges of biomass technology market in Africa and present an analysis of case studies of the best practices of solar projects in Africa; Conduct a case study of the major business models of successful biomass projects in Africa and provide guiding principles of business

21、development in the African context; identify possible investors and financing mechanism for future biomass projects and collaboration;Conduct an overview of the policy/legislative, institutional and cultural environment that are relevant to the biomass technology transfers in Africa; and accordingly

22、 identify the relevant barriers to biomass technology transfers and more efficient use of biomass power in Africa; and provide advices for companies to overcome the barriers and build an enabling environment for biomass technology transfer and use in Africa;Examine the business models of socially re

33、prospects under the framework of South-South Cooperation. Explain briefly the environmental and socioeconomic challenges faced by the global communities and the rationalization to strengthen the development and promotion of RETs to tackle climate changes through South-South Cooperation; Review the c

34、ooperation projects between MoST and UNDP and ACCA 21 and UNDP with a highlight on the China-Zambia Renewable Energy Technology Transfer Cooperation project; Present the vision and expected functions of SSC center and the future prospects of partnership between China and UNDP, MoST and UNDP in parti

35、cular.Task 1-3 above refer to the total input provided by three assigned consultants. A team of three consultants should work in coordination for their assignment and each consultant may opt to solve more than one single task; while Task 4 above refers to the total input provided by one assigned ins

36、titution.Key deliverables and Time schedulesFor Task 1-3:Within 3 days after contract signed, submit to PM the detailed work plans, methodology, communication strategy and key milestones with timelines.
