、Teaching/Learning ActivitiesDurationActivitiesResourcesRationale5 min· Teacher is to ask students to state the properties of light.· Teacher is to ask students how reflection is different for smooth and rough surfaces.· Teacher is to provide the lesson objectives to the students.·

、; Worksheet· This is to help students recap their prior knowledge on light, reflection, which will be applied in the session.· Lesson objectives are provided to allow students to know what to expect during the lesson.10 minSet Induction:· Teacher is to use the 2 examples of light ray

、diagrams that are wrongly drawn to spark the thinking process of the students.· Teacher is to ask a few students to stand in front of a full length mirror or normal mirror and deduce the path of the light ray from an object to the eye.· Full length mirror or normal mirror· Worksheet&#

、183; Cardboard arrows· By showing the negative examples, teacher would encourage students to use their prior knowledge to analyse the errors in the ray diagrams, which would spark their interest in the following activity.· This is to encourage students to think about the path of a light ra

、y when they see an image in the mirror before conducting the activity, so that they would appreciate the purpose of this session.20 minActivity to study reflection of light· Teacher is to explain the procedure of conducting the activity to the students, and to remind students what they are supp

、osed to find.· Students are to work in pairs for this activity and will collect 1 set of equipment per pair from the teachers table.· Teacher is to move around the laboratory to assist students in completing the activity. · WorksheetEquipment required:· Ruler· Protractor

、3; Small plane mirror· Pins· Plain paper· Soft board· The work is done in pairs so as to help one another in times of difficulty. Also, students can apply cooperative learning in this session.· Teacher needs to move around to ensure that students are on task as well as check

、ing on their measurement and experimental skills.5 min· Teacher is to ask a few students to identify and explain the following terms from a ray diagram:Ø NormalØ Angle of incidenceØ Angle of reflection· OHT 1· The purpose of asking students these questions is to assess

、the students understanding of the activity, and to reinforce the students concept of the terms used in reflection of light.5 min· Teacher is to ask students to state and explain the characteristics of images formed by the plane mirror.· Worksheet· This is to help students recap their

、e worksheet is used to assess the students knowledge and their understanding of the topic.REFLECTION OF LIGHT WORKSHEETName:_Date: _Class: 3/_What you will be learning today:1. Identify the normal, angle of incidence and angle of reflection, which are terms used in the concept of reflection of light

、2. State the laws of reflection3. Construct ray diagrams to illustrate the formation of images of an object by a plane mirrorRevision: What are the properties of light?_Revision: How is reflection of light different for smooth and rough surfaces?_What is wrong with the following light ray diagrams?

、_How does light ray from your hand reflect from the mirror and reach your eye?_Activity:The following activity will be carried out in pairs. Follow the instructions provided at the back of this worksheet. You and your partner will be required to complete the following table and answer the questions

、below. What is the normal?_What is the angle of incidence?_What is the angle of reflection?_Experiment Set No.Angle of IncidenceAngle of ReflectionRemarksWhat can you observe from this experiment?_Revision: What are the characteristics of images formed by plane mirrors?_State the laws of reflection._

、Complete the ray diagram by labelling the normal, angle of incidence and angle of reflection.Instructions for Activity to Study Reflection of Light1. Collect 1 set of the following equipment from the teachers table.· Ruler· Protractor· 2 pieces of plain paper· 4 pins· Small

、plane mirror· Soft board2. Place a piece of paper above the soft board. Draw a horizontal line across the paper. The mirror will be placed upright along the line. Draw another line which is perpendicular to the first line. This line represents the normal to the plane mirror. Label the point of

、intersection of the normal and the mirror as point N.3. Now, draw a line NA in such a way that line NA is making a 45° with the mirror.4. Place the mirror along the horizontal line. Insert 2 pins, P1 and P2 on the line NA. When your eye is in level with the pins and the mirror, you should be ab

、le to see the images of the pin the mirror on the other side of the normal.5. Insert another pin, P3, on the other side of the normal such that it is in line with the images of P1 and P2.6. Insert another pin, P4, on the other side of the normal such that it is in line with pin P3 and the images of

、P1 and P2.7. Remove the mirror and the pins. Draw a line from point N passing through the points P3 and P4, extending to point B.8. The angle of incidence of a light ray is the angle that the incident light rays from the pins P1 and P2 make with the normal. The incident light ray is represented by the line NA. Measure this angle and record it in the worksheet provided.9. The angle of reflection of a light ray is the angle that the reflected light rays make with the normal. The reflected light ray is represented by the l
