Eugene Nida : 翻譯即是翻譯意義。(Translation means translating meaning.) B.將一種語(yǔ)言或一套語(yǔ)言符號(hào)所表達(dá)的內(nèi)容用另一種語(yǔ)言或語(yǔ)言符號(hào)進(jìn)行轉(zhuǎn)換的行為或過(guò)程。 From these definition, we know: (1) tra

2、nslation is an action or a process; (2) its related to two different languages or language signs; (3) the result of translation is that one language is replaced by another language; (4) translation means that its the content but form of one language that is replaced by another language. II. Methods

3、of translation: A: Aims: To convey fully the meaning or information of the original text/ source language to the readers. B: Types: (1) intracultural translation 文化內(nèi)翻譯 intralingual translation 語(yǔ)言內(nèi)翻譯 (2) intercultural translation 跨文化 interlingual translation.跨語(yǔ)言翻譯 C: Methods : literal translation 直譯

Standards of Translation: 1. 信、達(dá)、雅 ( 嚴(yán)復(fù) ) faithfulness, expressiveness, elegance 2. “翻譯標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不宜苛求全面統(tǒng)一, 應(yīng)視不同文體而定;若用信達(dá)雅來(lái)衡量,則應(yīng)有區(qū)別地有所側(cè)重。 ” (王永泰 2002 ) Literal form/ style can be divided into two types: literatural or non-literatural style.(文藝性/非文藝性) 。 Examples : 1.
