Since our childhood got factories to push our economy forward better, our environment has becoming worse and worse.What are some of the current environmental problems in your home town?Air pollutions are the worst. The chemical plant gives out exhaust gas without any hesitation, leading to the air problems.What is being done to deal with the problems?The government in my childhood has taken actions to supervise these factories. You said you were only going to the store for a coke.B: All over people wore strange clothes and masks, with some in tall, pointed hats .I was scared silly when a guy with a bloody mask jumped out from a street comer all of a sudden.A: Ah, its October 31st, Halloween, the day for dressing like witches and ghosts.B: I was terrified when kids gave out horrible cries like ghosts.A: Dont worry. They meant no harm. They did that just for fun.B: A group of children came over to me shouting, Trick or treat?A: They were hoping youd treat them with candy.B: Well, I didnt know that, so I simply ignored them.A: Then theyd play a trick on you, I guess.B: Exactly, they threw eggs at my car window. Its a funny kind of holiday. Whats it called? Halloween?A: Yes, its one of the oldest holidays in the West. Today its mainly for kids.B: I myself will never dress like a ghost and shout, Trick or treat?6LEAD IN:What do your think people will choose, a low-paid job one likes or a boring but well-paid job?In my opinion, I will choose a low-paid job but which I like. A job is the one which you will spend a long time working on. Whether it succeeds, it will present the meaning of your life. Its also quite meaningful if I can reach my career goalDo you think ones character is important in finding job? Why or why not?Yes, I think so. How the job becomes a success needs peoples contributions. Only finding a job which suits your character, could you make most use of your talents, which hides in your character.What questions do you think are often asked in an interview? Why are they asked?“what do you think is your advantage and disadvantage?” “which you will choose between family and your job?” These employers need their employees honesty and responsibility.NOW YOUR TURN:Situation:Andy will go to an interview. He asks Sophie for advice. Sophie tells him to pay attention to his appearance(hair and dress) and manner(polite but firm). Sophie also advises Andy to tell about his work experience, to ask about the job requirements, and to learn the usual salary for a new hand in advance.ANDY: Can you give me some tips about how to get a good job?B: What have you done so far?A: Ive asked a few friends and relatives for job information, but its not of much use.B: That method is out of date. You should go to the job fair and meet wit companies.A: Yes, I did. But IT industry seems to have been badly hit the economic recession, and not many companied came to the job market. As for those who did come, they set a high standard for the candidates.B: To find more opportunities, you might as well look at the want ads in the newspaper.A: Ive been checking the want ads regularly for months, and I cant find anything good that Im qualifies for. And the few that I have seen are very low-paying.B: On the Internet you can find more job ads. You can use a search engine to find job sites related to your field. A: Good idea! I think Ill look for something in software development.B: I just found a job available at a computer company on the Net the other day. It might be just the sort of thing youre looking for.A: Great!
