Unit 12 What did you do last weekend?Section B 2a-2c一、Teaching contentThe topic of this unit is about the activities on the weekend; Its function is able to say something which happened in the past. In this unit we mainly review the usage of the past tense. The students are able to study the followings: to ask about sbs activities last weekend; students can express what they did last weekend; students have the ability to retell Lisas unforgettable weekend. To master the sentence structure by using “who, what, when, where, how”. Students have the ability of writing a short passage about the weekend experience.1. Language skills After learning, students are able to.understand the conversation in SectionB 1c and be able to realize the stress of the notional words in the sentence and students are willing to use them spontaneously; Students are able to act and talk about the past events by using the sentence structures with “who,what,when,where,how”. Whats more, students can catch the passage like SectionB 2b by using the picture and try to find the answers, meanwhile, they have the ability to retell the story.Besides, students can write a short passage to tell us the activities in the past.2. language goalsKey points:(1)Pay attention to the spellings and pronunciations of the past tense.(2)To grasp the following words: camp, lake, beach, sheep, as, natural, visitor, tired, stay, away, mouse, baby, shout, language, fly, kite, high, ago, India, moon, surprise, snake, move, start, jump, wake, into, forest, ear;and the phrases:stay up late, run away, shout at, fly a kite, put up, get a surprise, shout to, up and down, wakeup;Difficulties:Students are able to know some irregular changes of verbs as:began,blew,brought,rode,drank,drew,thought,drove and so on.3. Emotion:After learning, students are brave enough to use the functional sentences in this unit and they can act and communicate the past events; they are able to show their true feelings about the past. And on the other hand, they can work in groups and help each other to finish our tasks.4. Learning strategy:(1)After learning, students are able to preview the new lesson.(2)Before the listening part, they could scan the related pictures and some words to help the listening, try to catch the key words and consolidate the Listening skills.(3)students could do the picture-reading preview. And find the key words by using the scanning, they can form the initial understanding about the passage details.二、Procedures:1. lead-in (3mins)Firstly., the teacher shows some pictures to the students and ask them “what is your favorite animal?”S1: My favorite animal is panda.T: why do you like pandas?S1: Because they are cute.T: Then what about you? what is your favorite animal?S2: My favorite animal is lion./ elephant./giraffe.After the short conversation, the teacher says: for me, I dont like snakes because they are scared. ( the teacher writes scared on the blackboard.), what about you? Do you like snakes?The students can show their own ideas about snakes.2. warming-up/pre-reading(3mins)T: Excellent! Now Id like to show you Lisas experience and how they dealt with a snake. Firstly lets look at some new words on page 129.Students read the words together for three times.3. while-readingScanning (3 mins)T: Since we have known the words, please turn to page 71 and listen to the passage, meanwhile, find which pictures are correct.( The teacher shows five pictures and plays the listening as well) Check the answers. Skimming(15mins)T: Here are some multiple choices for you to understand the text further What I need you to do is reading the text again and finish the tasks.( show the questions on the PPTs. )Check the answers. T: After the multiple- choices, Im sure you can get the main ideas and try to finish the six questions in two, but remember, dont look ate the books while answering the questions. Here you go.Three or five minutes later, the teacher asks some students to answer the six questions.4. Post-reading(5mins)T: Now Id like you to try to retell the story. But firstly, you have to finish 2c. put the phrases in order according to the passage. After finishing 2c, you can work in a group and tell Lisas weekend with your own words. 5. Show time (3mins)Ask some students to retell the story with their own words. And choose the best group.T: I have heard Lisas weekend, now I want to know your last weekend, would you please write a short passage about your last weekend, and then you can share your passage with us. Five minutes for you.When time is up, ask one or two students to share their weekend.6.Summary and homeworkT: In this class, we have studied an interesting story about Lis
