The content of my lesson is Senior English for China Book 2 Unit 2 The Olympic GamesWriting. Ill be ready to begin this lesson from five parts: analysis of the teaching material, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedure, and Blackboard design. First, let me talk about the teaching material.Part 1 Teaching Material:This unit is about the Olympic Gameswriting. By studying of this unit, well enable the students to know something about the Olympic Games, especially sports. At the same time, let the students learn how to talk and communicate with others on sports. This lesson plays an important part in the English teaching in this unit. This is an important lesson in Book Two. From this lesson, it starts asking the Ss to speak out something they know about sports. Therefore, this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material. If the Ss can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the Ss talk and write compositions on sports. As we all know, writing belongs to the output during the process of the language learning. According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, after studying the teaching material and analyzing the rule of childrens growing of mind, I think the teaching aims are the followings:1. Knowledge objects:a) The Ss can read and speak the names of sports;b) The Ss can understand the content of the lesson;c) The Ss can write to express their thoughts on sports.2. Ability objects:(a) To develop the Ss abilities of speaking and writing. (b) To train the Ss ability of working in pairs. (c) To improve the students writing ability.3. Emotion objects:a) By completing the task, the Ss will increase their interest and set up self-confidence in sports;b) Teach the Ss what “sports” are; put the physics education in the language study. Now, lets come to the Important points and the Difficult points. Well, how to achieve the teaching objects better, how to stress the important points and break through the difficult points? As is known to us all, the modern teaching demands the teacher should improve the students ability. A good teaching method requires that the teacher should have the leading effects. According to the analysis of the teaching material and the students learning background, I will use the following methods. Part 2 Teaching Methods:In my opinion, the main instructional aims of learning English in the High School is to develop the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Communicative” Approach, “Whole language teaching” “and “Task-based” language teaching. According to the modern social communication teaching theories, I adopt TBLT method in my teaching, namely Task-based Language Teaching. It offers the Ss an opportunity to complete the tasks in which Ss use language to achieve a specific outcome. The activity reflects real life and learners focus on meaning; they are free to use any language they want. At the same time, Ill make use of the modern electricity teaching equipments and all kinds of teaching means; it can develop the Ss creativity in learning English.Part 3 Studying Methods: Our students are almost from the countryside. They are lack of information. As junior students, they have a certain ability to write. And the beautiful pictures are most attractive and easily arouse students learning emotion. As for the learning methods, they are poor in cooperative learning skills. Some students are not active in the class, and some students dont like English. Therefore, Ill have Ss study in a relaxed atmosphere. Ss understand the new knowledge in certain degree through the mental process of seeing, saying, thinking etc. And make preparation for completing the new study task. After feeling and understanding the language tasks, let Ss get the knowledge actively by probe study and cooperative study. In a word, well1. Teach the Ss how to be successful language learners. 2. Let the Ss pass ObservationImitationPractice to study language. 3. Teach the Ss how to master dialogues and how to communicate with others.4. Teach the Ss how to write.Part 4: Teaching Procedures:Step.1: Greeting (1)Step 2: Revision & motivation (4)Review the topic of this unit The Olympic Games. (1)Show the students some pictures about sports in the Olympic Games. And ask them if they know more about sports. (3)Step 3: Brainstorming (11)1. Ask several students what their favorite sports are. And reason out why they like the sports so much. (6)Whats your favorite sport?How did you become interested in it? Why?Who is your favorite athlete?What do you do to improve your skill?2. Pair work: Tell your partner about your favorite sports using the outline above. Then listen to your partners talk about his/her favorite sport. Make notes of your ideas. You may find the expressions below helpful. (5)I like because I became interested in it whenMy favorite athlete /footballer/sportsman isI like him/her because In the future I hope toStep 4: Outlining (5)1. Individual work: Check your notes. Pick out some important ideas. Make your notes in a good order. (3)2. Make your sentence more interesting by using some different linking words. (2)first second at last although too as well butsuch as for example especially besidesStep 5: Drafting: (8)Write a short passage entitled by “My Favorite Sport”.Step 6: Editing & Revising (3)Check your compositions by yourself. (Including: vocabularies, grammar, spelling)Step 7: Proof-reading (4)Exchange your compositions with your partner and check for each other.Step 8: Presentation & Evaluating (8)Check your compositions quickly. Ask two of the students to read out their writings to the whole class. Evaluate it together.1. The main idea of the composition.2. The contents of it. Does it give enough reasons to support his/her idea?3. Is it smooth? The use of the linking words.4. Pick out some good part of it. Words, phrases, or sentences are all OK.Step 9: Homework Assignment (1)According to the evaluation, perfect your composition.Part 5: Blackboard DesignThe Olympic GamesMy Favorite SportWhat?How?
