Singer Act OneScene One.Romeo broke up with his girlfriend, the French Princess. Then Gary, his best friend came over to invite him to a party. Gary: Hi, Mike, were having a party tonight, wanna come join us? You can bring your girlfriend. Romeo: Well.Im breaking up with Cathy. Gary: What happened? Did you have a fight? R: No. Shes really a very nice girl. Gary: Yeah, she is. Shes pretty, caring, and easy-going. And shes a great cook! Shes a gem! R: Well, youre right. But sometimes shes too caring. well.no.shes just possessive.and.uh. I kind of want a break.you know.for some room for myself. Gary: Oh?! Did you talk with her about it? R: Ive tried, but.it didnt work. Gary: Oh. So, when are you going to tell her? R: Maybe tonight. I dont know. I dont know how to tell her. Gary: I know shes head over heels in love with you. Shell be badly hurt! R: I know.Scene Two: Juliets brother Donald treats Romeo to a meal.(they think of many restaurants, but finally decide to try Donalds recipe.)Donald: Lets eat out, shall we? R: Im broke. Ive gone through my paycheck for the week already. Donald: Dont worry about it. Its my treat. R: Youre sure? Youre so generous! Donald: And nice, too. R: So, where are you taking me? Donald: Some place youve never been before. Donalds Kitchen. Act TwoScene OneRomeo asks for directions, R: Im looking for the subway station.A: Are you going by car or on foot?R: On foot. Why? Is that far?A: Well, its a good fifteen-minute walk.R: Thats okay.A: Go down to the corner and turn right at Sixth.R: Yeah.A: Walk two blocks and turn left. Thats Jackson Street. The station is on Jackson about a quarter of a mile from Sixth.R: So, I turn right at the corner and at the second street, I turn left and go down Jackson. Thatll take me right to the station.A: Thats right.Juliet meets Romeo in her Garden: (introduction) Romeo: Hi! Juliet: Hi. Excuse me, but do I know you?R: No. I am a friend of Donalds. You are such a sweet sensitive girl.J: I dont want to be sweet and sensitive! I want to be beautiful and athletic. D: If this boy doesnt like you for who you are, hes not worth it.J: But, Diane, it doesnt work like that. Youve got to impress a guy to get him to even notice you.D: Well does he know about your background? J: Guys like Romeo doesnt care about stuff like that.Scene Two ( On the balcony)Soliloquy:Hi, everyone. I am Juliet. Well, if you ask me what kind of person I like to date, I would say, let me think, yeah, here goes. I guess I really like men who are funny. I love to laugh and be happy. That is the most important thing. But I dont like men who are really loud. I mean, i like men to laugh, but I dont want them to sound like donkeys! Oh, I like men who are intelligent and open-minded. Those two things go together, dont they? Good conversations are important. I love talking about books and movies and politics. I really hate men who think theyre always right. They always get into bad moods if you dont agree. Romeo? Yeah, I guess he is just the one.(music) Two friends are talking about Romeo and Juliet:M: do you think that Romeo is serious about Juliet?B: well, Ive never seen him go out so often with the same person.Act Four (In a shop)The Queen Went to Buy a Wedding Gift for Her Daughter Juliet A:Can I help you?Q:Yes, I need something for my daughter.
