一般來說,begintodo和begindoing可以互換,但在以下三種情況下,用todo。

I.主語不是指人,而是it等。

II.begin后接表示心理活動的詞。如:begintoknow還有believe,wonder,think

等詞。

III.begin本身是ing形式,為避免重復后接todo。即:beginningtodo

2.Ben'sdad...whilehismomwasmakingsuretheflashlightsandradiowere

1)此句中的連詞while的意思是“當...的時候;和...同時“,while還可以表

示“而;然而;但”之意,用來說明和強調兩種事情或情形不同。

e.g.TomisactiveandoutgoingwhilehissisterRosaisshyandquiet.

湯姆活躍外向,而他的妹妹羅莎卻害羞靦腆。

2)makesure“確認,查明,核實;確保;設法保證”,其后可接句子,或接介詞

of及賓語,用來引入需要確認的內容。

e.g.Couldyoumakesurewhattimehe'sarriving?

你能確認一下他幾點到達嗎?

MakesureyouturnofftheTVbeforeyouleavethehouse.

在你離開屋子前確認關閉了電視。

3)此句中的work表示機器,器官等“運作,運轉”,這是動詞work的一種基本

用法。

e.g.Mywatchiswaterproof-thatmeansitwouldworkfineevenifit'sinwater.我

的手表是防水的一這就是說即便在水里它也會正常運轉。

3.Itwashardtohavefunwithaseriousstormhappeningoutside.

Itisadj.+todosth.做...怎么樣。

Itisadj.forsb.todosth.對某人來說做...怎么樣。

e.g.ItisimportantforustolearnEnglish.對我們來說學英語很重要。

活學活用:

區(qū)另Usleepy,asleep&sleep

sleepy是形容詞,可意為“困倦的;瞌睡的'可作定語和表語。如:

Filgotobed.Tmsleepy.我要去睡覺了。我困了。

asleep是形容詞,意思是“睡著的“,強調狀態(tài),常作表語。短語fallasleep意

為“入睡;睡著“。如:

GrandmafellasleepwhenwatchingTV.奶奶看電視時睡著了。

sleep可作動詞,意為“睡覺”,也可作名詞,意為“睡眠;睡覺”。如:

Myfatherissleeping.Pleasekeepquiet.我父親在睡覺,請保持安靜。

diedown逐漸變弱,逐漸平息

e.g.Whenyousawhim,hisangerhaddieddownabit.

你看見他的時候,他的火氣已經下去了。

rise是不及物動詞,意為:(價格、水位等)上漲;(月亮、太陽等)上升。

Step3過去進行時

1.基本概念:過去進行時表示在過去某一時刻或一段時間內正在進行的

動作。這一特定的過去時間除有上下文暗示以外,一般用時

間狀語來表示。

2.結構was/were(not)+動詞-ing

3.句式

肯定式:

I/He/She/Itwasworking.

We/You/They/wereworking.

否定式:

I/He/She/Itwasnotworking.

We/You/They/werenotworking.

疑問式和簡略回答:

WasIworking?

Yes,youwere.

No,youwerenot.

Wereyouworking?

注:

1)wasnot常縮略為wasn't;werenot??s略為weren't。

2)一般過去時與過去進行時用法的比較:一般過去時表示在過去某個時

間發(fā)生過的動作或存在的狀態(tài),而過去進行時則表示在過去某一時刻

或某一段時間正在進行的動作。

例如:

Davidwrotealettertohisfriendlastnight.

大衛(wèi)昨晚給他的朋友寫了封信。(信寫完了。)

Davidwaswritingalettertohisfriendlastnight.

大衛(wèi)昨晚一直在給他的朋友寫信。(信不一定寫完。)

Step4過去進行時中的when和while

when和while都可表示“當……的時候”,引導時間狀語從句。你知道兩

者在過去進行時中的用法有什么不同嗎?

請仔細觀察下面的例句,然后補全空格中的內容。

主句的動作是持續(xù)性的,而從句動作是短暫性的,此時用引導

主句的動作是短暫性的,從句的動作是持續(xù)性的,此時用

引導從句,主句用時態(tài),從句用過去進行時態(tài)。

主句和從句的動作在過去的某時刻或某段時間同時發(fā)生,而且動作都

過去進行時

1.概念:表示過去某個時刻或過去一段時間正在進行的動作。

2.句子結構:主語+was/were+doingsth.+時間狀語

3.時間狀語詞:at5:00yesterdayafternoon,atthattime,then等連用,或者用另一

動作來表示過去的時間。如:

過去進行時與一般過去時的區(qū)別

過去進行時著重描述當時正在持續(xù)進行的動作,它的特點是:暫時,持續(xù)和未完

成,強調過程;一般過去時表示發(fā)生過的動作或存在的狀態(tài),即表示動作發(fā)生過,

而且已經結束了,強調結果。
