中醫(yī)術(shù)語英譯研究——跨文化交際視角的開題報(bào)告ResearchReportontheEnglishTranslationofTraditionalChineseMedicineTerminologiesfromthePerspectiveofInterculturalCommunicationAbstract:TraditionalChineseMedicine(TCM)hasbeengloballyrecognizedforitsuniquediagnosisandtreatmentmethods,aswellasitsholisticapproachtohealthpreservation.However,theaccuratetranslationofTCMterminologieshasbecomeachallengeforcross-culturalcommunicationinTCMpracticeandresearch.ThisstudyaimstoinvestigatetheEnglishtranslationsofTCMterminologiesandexplorethepotentialproblemsininterculturalcommunicationfromalinguisticandculturalperspective.Byanalyzingtheexistingtranslationstrategiesandprinciples,aswellastheculturalconnotationsofTCM,thisstudyintendstoprovidepracticalsuggestionsforpromotingtheproperutilizationofTCMknowledgeinglobalhealthcarecontext.Keywords:TraditionalChineseMedicine;InterculturalCommunication;Translation;Terminology;CultureIntroductionTraditionalChineseMedicine(TCM)hasalonghistoryofdevelopmentinChinaandhasbeenincreasinglyrecognizedandappliedinglobalhealthcarepractice.However,thetranslationofTCMterminologiesremainsastumblingblockincross-culturalcommunicationbetweenTCMpractitionersandpatients,aswellasbetweenTCMresearchersandtheirinternationalcounterparts.ThelackofaccurateandstandardizedTCMterminologytranslationnotonlyaffectsthecommunicationeffectivenessbutalsobringspotentialmisunderstandingsandmisapplicationinTCMpracticeandresearch.Therefore,understandingthechallengesandexploringthestrategiesofTCMterminologytranslationfromaninterculturalcommunicationperspectiveisessentialforpromotingthepropercommunicationandapplicationofTCMknowledge.LiteratureReviewTCMterminologyisacomprehensivesystemthatencompassesthetheories,diagnosticmethods,treatmentmodalities,andpharmacologyofTCM.Itsuniquenessliesintheholisticanddialecticalapproachtothehumanbody,disease,andhealth,whichisdifferentfromthebiomedicalmodel.Assuch,TCMterminologyhasmanyculturalconnotationsandnuancesthataffectitstranslation.AlthoughmuchworkhasbeendoneinTCMterminologytranslation,theexistingtranslationsoftenlackconsistencyandaccuracy,andsomeevenhaveconceptualerrors(ZhangandFu,2014).ThissituationispartlyduetodifferenttranslationstrategiesandprinciplesutilizedbydifferenttranslatorsandalsoduetoculturaldifferencesbetweenTCMandWesternmedicine.Forinstance,theEnglishequivalentsoftermslike“Qi,”“Yin-Yang,”“Zang-Fu,”and“Meridian”mightnotreflecttheexactmeaningsandconnotationsofthesetermsinTCM.MethodologyThisstudywilladoptaqualitativeresearchmethodtoanalyzetheexistingtranslationstrategiesandprinciplesofTCMterminology,aswellastheculturalconnotationsthataffectthesetranslations.Thedatasourceswillincludeacademicresearcharticles,dictionaries,andtextbooksrelatedtoTCMterminology.Thedataanalysisprocesswillinvolvethreesteps:1)identifyingthetranslationstrategiesandprinciplesadoptedbydifferenttranslators;2)analyzingtheculturalconnotationsandnuancesofTCMterminologyfromtheperspectiveofTCMtheoriesandconcepts;3)evaluatingtheaccuracyandconsistencyoftheexistingtranslationsandproposingpossiblesolutionstoimprovethetranslationofTCMterminology.ExpectedOutcomesThisstudyisexpectedtorevealthechallengesandpotentialproblemsinTCMterminologytranslationfromaninterculturalcommunicationperspective.ItwillprovidepracticalsuggestionsforimprovingtheaccuracyandconsistencyofTCMterminologytranslation,aswellaspromotingcross-culturalcommunicationinTCMpracticeandresearch.Inaddition,thisstudymaycontributetothestandardizationandglobalizationofTCMknowledgeanditsapplicationintheworld.ConclusionTheaccurateandstandardizedtranslationofTCMterminologyiscrucialforcross-culturalcommunicationandtheproperintegrationofTCMknowledgeintheglobalhealthcarecontext.ThisstudywillexploretheexistingtranslationstrategiesandprinciplesofTCMterminologyandanalyzetheculturalconnotationsandnuancesthataffectthesetranslations.Byevaluatingtheaccuracyandconsistencyoftheexistingtranslations,thisstudyintendstoprovidepracticalsuggestionsforimprovingthequalityofTCMterminologytranslationandpromotingcro
