OneofthemostfamousstoriesrelatedtotheMid-AutumnFestivalisthelegendofChang'e.Accordingtothelegend,Houyi,askilledarcher,shotdownnineofthetensunsthatwerescorchingtheearth.Asareward,hewasgivenanelixirofimmortality.However,hiswife,Chang'e,consumedtheelixirandflewtothemoon,whereshebecameagoddess.ItissaidthatonthenightoftheMid-AutumnFestival,Chang'ecanbeseendancingonthemoon.
