Designlifeofthesystemshallreach25years.

Whendesigningthesystem,considerationsshallbegiventobothcapacityandcostfactorstorealize

optimaldesign.Iftechnologyallows,arepeaterlesssystemshallbepreferred.

4.2Capacity

4.2.1

Forarepeaterlesssubmarinecablesystem,thetransmissionlinebitrateshallbedetermined

accordingtothedistancebetweenlandingstations,andthenumberoffibersshallbedeterminedaccordingto

mid-termandlong-termcapacitydemandwhilebalancingthetechnicalandeconomicaspects.

4.2.2

Forarepeateredsubmarinecablesystem,thenumberoffibersshallbedeterminedbyconsidering

thecost,mid-andlong-termcapacitydemandandthecapacityofthepowerfeedingsystem.

4.2.3

Forarepeateredsubmarinecablesystem,state-of-the-arttechnologiesintheindustryshallbe

adopted,designcapacityshallbedeterminedaccordingtofibertypea專用ndthedistancebetweenoptical

submarinerepeaterssoastoachievetheminimalcostperunitdesigncapacity;theinitialcapacityofSLTE

maybedeterminedaccordingtoshort-termdemand.

4.3NetworkTopology

4.3.1

Asubmarinecablesystemshouldadopttwobasictopologies:P-to-Ptopology(Figure4.3.1-1)and

branchtopology(Figure4.3.1-2).

Whenselectingthetopology,thelandingstationsgeographicalrelationship,servicedemands,

networksafetyrequirementsandcosteffectivenessshallbetakenintoconsideration.

4.4SubmergedEquipment

4.4.1

Submergedequipmentsmayincludesubmarinerepeater,BU,gainequalizer,etc..

Inadditiontomeetingthedimensionalrequirementsofthecable-layingequipmentofthecable

installationship,thewaterpressureresistancerequirementsatthemaximaldepthofthewaterswherethe

projectislocated,andthehighdielectricstrengthrequirements,submergedequipmentshallalsomeetthe
