ThisEnglishlanguagelessonisdesignedforEnglishasaforeignlanguage(EFL)studentsinGrade6whousethePeople’sEducationPress(PEP)versionofthetextbook.Thelessonisaboutplanningfortheweekend.

Studentswillbeabletousemodalverbs(can,should,might)toexpresspossibilitiesandadvice.

Studentswillbeabletousethepresentcontinuoustensetotalkaboutfutureplans.

Studentswillbeabletouseprepositionsoftime(on,in)andplacetotalkaboutplans.

Studentswillbeabletousevocabularyrelatedtoweekendactivities(e.g.

playingsports,watchingmovies,goingshopping,etc.).

SocialandCulturalObjectives

StudentswilllearnaboutdifferentweekendactivitiesthatpeopleinEnglish-speakingcountriesoftenenjoy.

Studentswilllearnabouthowdifferentfamiliescanhavedifferentweekendplansbasedontheirinterestsandschedules.

Procedure

Warm-UpActivity(10minutes)

Theteacherinitiatesaconversationwiththestudentstogetthemtalkingabouttheirplansfortheweekend.Theteachercanaskquestionssuchas:

Whatareyourplansfortheweekend?

Doyouhaveanyhobbiesthatyouliketodoonweekends?

Doyouhaveanyfamilymembersorfriendswhoyouliketospendtimewithonweekends?

Theteachercanalsowritesomeexamplesofweekendactivitiesontheboardforthestudentstodiscussinpairsorsmallgroups.

IntroductiontoVocabulary(15minutes)

Theteacherintroducesnewvocabularyrelatedtoweekendactivitiessuchas:

goshopping

Theteachercanusepictures,flashcards,orgesturestohelpthestudentsunderstandthemeaningofeachword.Theteachercanalsowritethewordsontheboardandaskthestudentstorepeatthemafterher.
