high-andlow-socioeconomic(社會(huì)經(jīng)濟(jì)地位低的)areasinBrisbane,andcompared
thedietpriceswithfamilyincomes.
Inbothareas,afamilyoftwoadultsandtwochildrenspendabout18%moreon
presentdietsthanwouldberequiredtobuyhealthydiets.About58%ofthefood
budgetforpresentdietsisspentonjunkfoods,includingtakeawayfoods(14%),and
sugarydrinks(4%).
Inthelow-socioeconomicarea,afamilyoftwoadultsandtwochildrenspend
$640.20everytwoweeksontheirpresentdiets,butcouldbuyahealthydietfor
$560.93everytwoweeks.Inthehigh-socioeconomicarea,thesenumbersare$661.92
and$580.01.
Supermarketfoodpriceswereabout3%higherinthehigh-socioeconomic
location.Takeawayfoodswerealsorelativelymoreexpensive,butsugarydrinkswere
pricedsimilarlyinbothareas.
