AComparativestudyonschooleducationinAmericaandChina

Abstract:

InAmerican,educationattractgreatattentionfromthegovernment,compulsoryeducationis12years,3yearslongerthanours,thestudentsnotonlyenjoyfreebooksbutevenhavefreelunch,fromthisyoucanseehowAmericancareabouteducation.Whatismore,mostofthepeoplewillnotgetsatisfiedwith12yearseducation,ifso,theycanhardlygetajob.Manyofthemwillgoforfurtherstudy.Theystudymoreforwardlyandmoreself-conscious,andthesetwokindsofgoodbehavioralsobringagoodsocialatmosphere.

Chineseteachersareusedtodividestudentsindifferentlevelbasedontheymarksintheexam,andstudentswillbedividedintodifferentclasses.WhileAmericanteachersprefertouse"ABCD"insteadofArabicnumeralstoevaluatethestudents,intheireyeseverystudentisgood,soteacherswillnotgrudgepraiseforthestudents,maybeappreciativeeducationisenlightenedfromthis.

Asweallknow,therearelotsofdifferencesinschooleducationbetweenChinaandAmerica.NowIwanttotalkaboutthedifferencesfromprimaryeducationtohighereducation.

ThereasonswhyIwanttocomparethistwokindsofeducationstyleareverysimple.First,ifwewanttolearnaboutacountryweshouldlearnitseducationstyletolearnabouthowtheycultivatethenextgeneration.Second,wecanlearnother'sadvantagesandimproveours,especiallyforwedevelopingcountries.Third,developmentofsocietyalwaysrelyonscience,andsciencecomefromeducation,ifwewanttobestrong,educationistheverykey.

Youmayaskwhythedifferencesexist,yeah,why?Inmyopinion,differencescomesoobviouslybecausewehavequitedifferentthinkingmethods,weChineseprefertosummarizeexperienceaftereverypractice,andwearegoodatapplyingoursummaryintopractice.WhileAmericansareusedtodoingsomepracticefirst,theycanachievealotinthesepractice.Inotherwordsourthinkingmethodislimitedintheeldergeneration'sexperienceseriously,whatwedoistoapplythesesummaryintoapplication,itwilldogreatharmtoourinnovation.Nowletuscompareourdifferentkindofeducationstylefromprimaryeducationtohighereducationbetweenthetwocountries.

1.PrimarySchoolEducation

It'ssocommonthatourchildrensufferlotsofhomeworkafterclass,whatismore,theyounghavetoattendtoeverykindofextraclasstoimprovetheirscores,wehavetoadmirethatourchildrengrasp

verysimilartoourcollegelife,theycommonlystudyforfouryearsduringhighschool,theyneednottopaytoomuchattentiontocollegeentranceexamination,inAmerican,peoplepreferyourabilitythanyourscores,sostudentsworkhardtoimprovetheirallkindsofabilities.Theygotoclassfrom7:30to2:15fromMondaytoFridayandonlysixclasseseveryday,maybeyoudonotbelieve,butitisreallytrue.Theyalsohavemoreinterestingclassessuchaspotteryclass,theatreclassandlegalclass,whattheschoolwantistostrengthenstudents'spracticalskills.AmericanstudentsgotoclassindifferentclassroomwhileweChinesehavepermanentclassroom,whatismore,theyarefreetodevelopthemselvesandmajorinthesubjectstheylike.Aslongastheygetenoughcreditstheycangetgraduated,sowecanconcludethattheirstyleislikeourcollegestyle.

Andourclassatmosphereisalsodifferent,Chinesestudentsshouldsitrightlyandanswertheteacher'squestioncarefully,weconsiderthatshowsourrespecttoourteacher,however,Americanstudentsprefertositascomfortableastheyfeel,theythinkitisgoodforstudyefficiency.

3.CollegeEducation

Inthispartwewillcontinuetointroducethedifferencebetweentwokindsofeducationstyles.

InChina,havingentrancedcollege,studentsfinallyhavethechancetoleadarelaxedlifeaftersomanyyearsstudylife.Manyofthempursuitnottofailineveryterm'sfinalexamination,consideringthatisenough.Andafterthesefouryears,studentsbothcangetajobandgoforfurtherstudy,itmainlydependonyourpersonaldesire.Inthefouryear'slifewehavetogetenoughcreditstogetgraduated,weneedtoattendtorequiredcoursesandelectivesubjects.Incollegeyoumaynotgotoeveryclass,itissocommonthateverystudenthaveeverescapedfromclasses.Andduringthesefouryearswecanjoinallkindsoforganizationsandthatisagoodwaytoimproveourcommunicationskillsandwecanmeetmorepeople,maybeoneormoreamongthemwilldousafavorinthefuture.Wealsotakepartinmanykindsofnationalexaminations,amongwhichareCET4,CET6,andNCRE2.Ifyougetthecertificate.Itwillhelpyoualotwhenyouattendajobinterviewaftergraduation.

Ingeneral,Chineseeducationstylepaysmoreattentiontobasicknowledge,especiallytomathphysicandchemistry.OurstudentsreallyhavesteadybasicknowledgethattheUSstudentsadmireverymuch.WhenweturntoseeUSstudents,wecaneasilyfindtheyprefertoimprovesocialskills,includingarguing,socialworkandteamwork,thisdifferenceleadtoaphenomenonthatifChineseandAmericanbothworkinacompanymostoftheAmericanswillworkasmanager,andmostofweChinesewillworkastechnicalstaffwhoworkforthemanager.Whenaskedwhatbringthisdifference,Americansay"Chinesehaveverygoodknowledgestandardbuttheyarenotwillingtotalkabouttheiropinionsinmeetings,theyareusedtoworkalongwithformerexperienceandlackinnovationspirit."
