、The Latin Part. 拉丁語局部.Supplement Spelling rules for root prefixes附錄“前綴詞根的拼寫規(guī)那么Introduction 簡(jiǎn)介It is well known that knowledge of Latin roots increases word power and expands vocabulary. This study of prefixes, which treats them as roots, aims to further improve this knowledge. Being roots with a mean

、ing, they should really be treated as such, and not simply as prefixes. For the purposes here, I have chosen to call them root prefixes眾所周知,懂得拉丁詞根的知識(shí)能增強(qiáng)用詞能力并擴(kuò)大詞匯量。這局部對(duì)前綴的學(xué)習(xí)把前綴作為詞根來對(duì)待,旨在進(jìn)一步提高對(duì)詞根的知識(shí)。前綴更應(yīng)被看作是有一定含義的“詞根,而不應(yīng)被簡(jiǎn)單地認(rèn)為就是前綴。因此,我選擇把它們稱作“前綴詞根。The rules governing the spelling of root prefixes are

、set out in each of the studies, and are not so difficult to master. Lists of words that follow each rule are also included for easy reference. 支配拼寫“前綴詞根的規(guī)那么被放在每次的學(xué)習(xí)中,且不難掌握。 遵循各條規(guī)那么的單詞列表也包含在內(nèi)以便參考。The meanings of the root prefixes have also been given because the focus of these studies is on comprehen

、sion, which means firstly: recognizing a root prefix, knowing its meaning, and then understanding how it combines with other roots to produce literal or figurative meanings. 因?yàn)檫@局部學(xué)習(xí)的重點(diǎn)是在理解力練習(xí)上,所以又給出了各“前綴詞根的含義。理解的過程即:首先識(shí)別出一個(gè)前綴詞根知道它的含義,然后又知道它是怎樣與其它詞根結(jié)合來構(gòu)成新的字面意義或引申意義的。Once the rules are mastered, ident

、ifying a root prefix will not be a problem, and more time can be spent on learning the meanings, which is the final stage of the comprehension process. This last stage is the subject of a separate study, which can be found in the supplement titled Root prefix meanings.一旦掌握了規(guī)律,識(shí)別一個(gè)“前綴詞根就不再成問題。這樣我們就可以

、把更多的時(shí)間放在學(xué)習(xí)它們的含義上。對(duì)含義的理解是理解過程中的最后階段,它是另外一局部學(xué)習(xí)的主題,在以“前綴詞根的含義為題的附錄中可以找到。The main benefits from this study are as follows: 從這局部學(xué)習(xí)中收到的效率是:1.Increased comprehension.理解力的增強(qiáng)2.Better understanding of grammar.對(duì)語法的更好理解3.Increased vocabulary.詞匯量的擴(kuò)大4.Increased background knowledge.背景知識(shí)的增長。5.More efficient use of

、 available study time by analyzing roots and grammar together.由于把對(duì)詞根的學(xué)習(xí)與對(duì)語法的學(xué)習(xí)結(jié)合在一起,更好地利用了有限的學(xué)習(xí)時(shí)間。字號(hào):大 中 小 The Latin Part1The root prefix-dis“前綴詞根“disdis is a Latin word that expresses the following ideas:“dis是一個(gè)表示以下含義的拉丁語單詞: 1.Apart, or away, as for example in the word discernere, meaning literally

、 to separate out from which we get the English word discern.“分開或“離開,例如在單詞“discernere中,其字面含義為“分出來,從中我們引申出了英語單詞“discern識(shí)別出、分辨出。 2.Intensive force for example: disannul, or disgruntle.“加強(qiáng)語氣的力度,例如:“disannul取消、使無效或“disgruntle使不快樂。 3.Negation, for example: dislike, disarm, “否認(rèn),例如:“dislike不喜歡、討厭、“disarm繳的械

、、裁軍。 The form of the root prefix dis is governed by spelling rules, which are set out below“前綴詞根“dis的形態(tài)是由它的拼寫規(guī)那么決定的, 其拼寫規(guī)那么見下: No change rule沒有變化的規(guī)那么The root prefix dis does not change form before words that begin with vowels or any of the following consonants: b, c, d, h, j, p, q, s, and t. For exa

、mple:“前綴詞根“dis在以元音字母或以以下任何一個(gè)輔音字母:b、c、d、h、j、p、q、s和t開頭的單詞之前不改變其形態(tài)。例如:discernere = dis + cernerefrom which we get the English word: discern從中引申出了英語單詞:“discern識(shí)別出、分辨出 1.The root prefix dis never changes when used as a living prefix. For example: “前綴詞根“dis在作為一個(gè)“自由前綴被使用時(shí)永遠(yuǎn)不變。例如:dislike ()For living prefix

、es a hyphen can be used unless the usage is well established; in which case the solid form is more common. For more details about hyphens see the Supplement The use of hyphens.除非對(duì)于一個(gè)單詞的不使用連字符的寫法已廣泛為人們所接受,便可以使用連字符把自由前綴與這個(gè)單詞連接起來。 在為人們所廣泛接受的寫法中,不使用連字符的這種固定的形態(tài)更常見。關(guān)于連字符的詳細(xì)用法見附錄“連字符的使用。 Double consonant r

、ule雙輔音規(guī)那么The s of the dis changes in front of a word beginning with the consonant f and is replaced by the first consonant of the word. This produces a double consonant, for example: “dis中的“s在以輔音字母f開頭的單詞之前改變,并被那個(gè)單詞的第一個(gè)輔音字母所替換。這樣就產(chǎn)生了雙輔音,例如:From dis + fere = di+f +ferefrom which we get the English wor

、d: differ從中引申出了英語單詞:“differ不同于Drop the s rule去掉“s規(guī)那么The s of the dis drops out in front of a word beginning with the consonants: g, l, m, n, and v. for example:如果“dis在以輔音:g、 l、 m、 n和v開頭的單詞之前, 去掉“dis中的“s。例如:dis + vertere= diverterefrom which we get the English word: divert從中引申出了英語單詞:“divert使轉(zhuǎn)向、使轉(zhuǎn)移 Th
