ITO is found to have a higher work function, while the work function for Al is lower than
6、that of TiO2 films. An electron transfer is indicated to occur in the interfaces between TiO2 films and conducting substrate Al or ITO, which results in an Ohm contact or Schottky barrier under the transient equilibrium UV radiation conditions. Photocatalytic measurements showed that the TiO2 films
7、on Al have a higher activity for photocatalytic oxidation of C2H4, but the activity for photocatalytic degradation of oleic acid is lower as compared with TiO2 films on glass. Alternatively, TiO2 films on ITO give completely contrary photocatalytic performance to those on Al. These observations coul
8、d be associated with the electron transfer, in which Al acts as an electron donor and offers electrons to TiO2, allowing photocatalytic oxidation of ethylene to proceed by the photogenerated electrons, while ITO could be an acceptor for the photogenerated electrons, which is beneficial to photocatal
9、ytic degradation of oleic acid by the photogenerated holes. 10、vities of Nafion-Coated TiO2 for the Degradation of Charged Organic Compounds under UV or Visible Light摘要:Nafion (perfluorinated polymer with sulfonate groups)-coated TiO2 particles (Nf/TiO2) were prepared and their reactivities for the photocatalytic degradation (PCD) of charged organic substrates
11、were investigated. The presence of Nafion adlayers drastically changed the positive TiO2 surface charge to a negative one over the entire pH range and significantly influenced the PCD kinetics and mechanisms. The UV-induced PCD of tetramethylammonium (TMA; cationic substrate) was greatly enhanced in
12、 the presence of Nafion adlayers on TiO2 because the ion-exchange sites within the Nafion can hold cationic substrates. On the other hand, despite the unfavorable electrostatic interaction between the Nf/TiO2 and anionic substrates, the PCD of dichloroacetate (DCA) and acid orange 7 (AO7) with Nf/Ti
13、O2 was not significantly inhibited. The visible-light-sensitized degradation of dyes was enhanced with Nf/TiO2 not only for cationic dyes (methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine B (RhB) whose uptake on Nf/TiO2 is enhanced, but also for an anionic dye (AO7) that is less adsorbed on Nf/TiO2. The unexpected
14、 behavior in AO7 degradation seems to be related to the role of the Nafion layer in retarding the charge recombination. These observations indicate that Nf/TiO2 can enhance the PCD reactivity for cationic substrates without sacrificing the PCD reactivity for anionic substrates. In addition, it was f
15、ound that the sensitized degradation of RhB followed a different path when the surface of TiO2 was coated with Nafion. The N-de-ethylation of RhB that leads to the generation of rhodamine-110 was a prevailing path with Nf/TiO2, whereas the cleavage of the chromophoric ring structure was dominant wit
16、h pure TiO2. The photocatalytic process helps to enhance biodegradability of landfill leachate. Batch
18、 experiments were employed to determine the optimum conditions for removal of organic matter by UV-TiO2 photocatalysis. Under optimum conditions, the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), biological oxygen demand (BOD), and color was determined. Moreover, gas chrom
19、atography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS) was used to analyze the organic matter in the treated leachate before and after treatment by the photocatalysis. The experimental results indicated that the removal of COD, DOC, and color by UV-TiO2 photocatalysis could reach above 60%, 70% and 97%, r
20、espectively. Under optimal conditions, the ratio of biological oxygen demand (BOD)/chemical oxygen demand (COD) was elevated from 0.09 to 0.39, representing substantial improvement in biodegradability. GC/MS analysis revealed that 37 out of 72 kinds of organic pollutants in the leachate remained aft
21、er 72 h treatment. Esters were produced during photocatalytic process and ketones, hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, hydroxybenzenes, and acids were easier to be degraded during photocatalytic oxidation processes. The UV-TiO2 photocatalysis systems proposed may be a cost-effective approach f

24、nly difference between the two methods used was that different acids were added to the microemulsions to make a direct comparison of the photocatalytic activity of the polymorphs possible. UV Vis reflectance and XRD spectroscopic investigations of these titanium dioxides indicated that a rutile stru
25、cture could be formed (PR) when hydrochloric acid was used, and anatase formed (PA) when nitric acid was used. The activity of the two polymorphs and P-25 for the photocatalytic degradation of dye in water was also examined. It was found that P-25 consisting of anatase and rutile has the highest act
26、ivity, and PR consisting of rutile has the lowest. Photodegradation of X-GL in the presence of these different TiO2 particles under air-equilibrated controlled conditions led to the formation of hydrogen peroxide. The formation rate of H2O2 depended on the difference in crystalloid phase. These resu
