19、December 15, 2010 Dear Colleague: Despite a lukewarm economic climate, Honeywells strong performance in 2010 demonstrates the benefit of having Great Positions in Good Industries globally. Our short cycle businesses, such as turbochargers and general industrial products, led the way in 201

20、0 with a robust recovery off low 2009 levels. And, our longer cycle businesses, including commercial aerospace, ACS Solutions, and UOP refining technologies, are showing meaningful signs of improvement, with double-digit growth in orders rates. These factors, together with the companys terrific exec

21、ution, convey an even stronger 2011 for Honeywell. Were clearly growing faster than the markets we serve, and combined with the improved outlook for the global economy, were confident in our expectations for higher revenues, segment margin expansion, strong cash flow, and double-digit earnings

22、growth in 2011. Well continue to leverage investments in new products, technology differentiation, emerging market expansion, and our key process initiatives, such as the Honeywell Operating System (HOS), Velocity Product Development (VPD), and Functional Transformation (FT). These are the core elem

23、ents of the Honeywell playbook and are essential to our ability to outperform. Our continuous focus on seed planting for growth and productivity has positioned the company for growth next year and over the long-term. Read more in the press release issued earlier today.  Given the mixed signals

26、Honeywell mindset in 2011.  Its also critically important that we stay flexible and ready to respond quickly to changes in the global economy.  Flexibility will be crucial for us as we work to continue to outperform our peers in the year ahead.  Business Segment Highlights  Our f

27、ocus on new products, new services, and geographic expansion paid off with some terrific results this year.  Aerospace achieved major milestones in the globalization of its business, securing key wins, and establishing partnerships with customers and suppliers around the world. Commercial Aircr

28、aft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) awarded Honeywell a range of C919 contracts worth more than $11 billion over the life of the programs, including fly-by-wire flight controls, wheels and brakes, navigation, and auxiliary power systems for this important new platform.  Honeywell continued t

29、o move forward as a global leader in the development of NextGen Air Traffic Management (ATM). The Federal Aviation Administration awarded Honeywell a major new research contract to incorporate precise timing and positioning data into ATM so that aircraft can “fly smarter,” avoiding airport congestio

30、n and flight delays. Aerospace is also playing a pivotal role in Europes Single European Skies ATM Research (SESAR) modernization initiative. Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) continued to build Great Positions in Good Industries with acquisitions of Sperian Protection, Akuacom, E-Mon, Mat

31、rikon, and PEHA. Innovation continues to fuel ACS growth, with more than 460 new product introductions this year. Honeywell Building Solutions secured a number of significant energy efficiency orders, including the General Services Administration (GSA) Energy Savings Performance Contract worth $10 m

32、illion, and a $17.3 million contract with the City of Tallahassee, Florida to implement demand response and energy efficiency programs. Honeywell Process Solutions is leveraging its technology portfolio to help Abu Dhabi Gas Development Company, Ltd. complete the Shah Gas Development project and ope

33、rate the site safely, reliably, and efficiently. This project one of the largest and most complex in the industry is worth $80 million, with the potential for a total of $200 million over time. Transportation Systems was awarded new turbo and brake pad wins by auto and truck makers around the w

34、orld, including Ford, Daimler, General Motors, Haldex, Hino, Hyundai, MWM, Peugeot, Renault-Nissan, and Volkswagen. These wins, for both passenger and commercial vehicle applications, are worth more than $3 billion over the life of the programs. The turbo business also launched more than 100 new app

35、lications on vehicles in the Americas, Europe, China, and India. The Consumer Products Group continued to strengthen its brand position in each of its automotive aftermarket segments and expanded its reach this year with key retail wins in North America and Europe. Specialty Materials announced

36、 plans to form a manufacturing alliance with DuPont to produce HFO-1234yf, a low-global-warming potential refrigerant for use in mobile air conditioning systems. Specialty Materials also signed a supply agreement with General Motors for this product, which will help the automaker exceed its environm

37、ental performance targets in the U.S. Honeywells UOP signed agreements for biofuel development projects with the governments of China and India as well as with the Masdar Institute in the United Arab Emirates, and produced Honeywell Green Jet Fuel for use in multiple demonstrations with the U.S. mil

38、itary, including a supersonic flight of the U.S. Navys F/A 18 “Green Hornet.” Honeywells UOP was also selected by Petrobras to provide all of the process technology required for two significant new diesel refineries to be built in Brazil.  Company-wide process initiatives generated meaningful r

39、esults in productivity, efficiency, cash performance, new product introductions, and global impact. Velocity Product Development is helping bring new products that customers want to market faster, and our accelerated deployment of the Honeywell Operating System is delivering outstanding results in s

45、sses to help reduce indirect spend by more than $50 million compared to 2009, and delivered more than $118 million in annualized savings this year through the use of the e-sourcing tool. Procurement also worked with our suppliers and their suppliers to ensure that Honeywell would be able to respond

46、to an increase in orders.  The “Buy Honeywell” program grew by $5 million to more than $40 million in 2010, and a relentless focus on improving supplier payment terms helped contribute to strong working capital performance across the businesses.  We look to continue our track record of out

47、standing Cash performance this year, which is critically important because it allows us to invest in our businesses, pay dividends, repurchase stock, or acquire companies, and also because it is a key indicator of the health and earnings quality of our company.  I ask for your continued commitm

48、ent to reducing working capital while improving customer service, reducing cycle times, and implementing robust Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes in 2011.  People are the ultimate differentiator, and as the economy recovers, we need to be ready to respond to an increase

49、 in customer demand. Keep that in mind as you work with your supervisor to set your goals for the coming year and enter them into the HPD system. Your results for 2010 will become the starting point for assessing your performance as part of our global, standardized process, which focuses on ensuring

50、 that the best performers receive the best rewards. The Honeywell Hometown Solutions (HHS) Humanitarian Relief Fund has helped employees and communities around the world with projects completed in Mexico, China, Pakistan, and, most recently, Haiti, where construction of the Ecole Nationale Jaco

51、b Martin Henriquez School will be completed in January 2011. The school will serve approximately 600 local students in grades kindergarten through seven. In addition, a total of 2,725 employees 357 more than last year participated in 56 Rebuilding Together projects. More than 200 teachers from 17 co

52、untries graduated from this years Honeywell Educators Space Academy program in June, and the Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy held its inaugural event in February with 160 students from 20 countries in attendance. The Got 2B Safe program, now in its fifth year, continues to teach personal safe

53、ty skills to more than five million U.S. elementary school students. More information on the programs provided through HHS, and ways to participate, can be found on Inside Honeywell.   The EnablersBy the end of this year, 218 sites will be in full-scale Honeywell Operating System (HOS) dep

54、loyment, representing about 90 percent of our manufacturing cost base.  A total of 74 sites (59 factory and 15 non-factory) will achieve Bronze certification by the end of the year. And, three of these sites have reached Silver certification which indicates they have sustained performance resul

55、ts for at least one year after achieving Bronze status, in addition to integrating HOS with the key cross-functional business processes including SIOP, new product introduction, and procurement/supply base management. We expect approximately 50 additional sites to achieve Bronze status and 15 to ach

56、ieve Silver status by the end of 2011.  Our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategy is to integrate requirements directly into HOS, so that HSE excellence becomes part of what we do every day.  Thanks to this approach, our Bronze and Silver HOS sites had average HSE assessment scores

57、 more than 12 percent higher than the rest of our sites this year.  Functional Transformation has helped us substantially improve service and reduce costs, but there is still more we can do. IT completed 46 SAP ERP deployments across Aerospace, ACS, and Corporate, and delivered solutions that h

58、elped improve customer relationship management, receivables, and engineering collaboration and simulation while reducing costs by $30 million versus 2009. The Human Resources One Country Model now includes 49 percent of employees, with another 27 percent in progress. Using a One Honeywell approach is driving synergies and best practices across the function. In addition, hundreds of employees have received answers to their questions by using the global “Ask HR” online tool, which was designed to increas
