M5U1 Getting along with othersReading Secrets and lies & A friendship in troubleTeaching aims : l To make use of the reading skills to find certain information.l To retell the two passages according to some key words.l To learn about the reading strategy: reading to understand feelings.l To improve the students ability in expressing their opinions on friendship.【Activity procedures】學生學習活動教師組織教學方案Procedures:Activity 1 Secrets and liesStep 1.Lead-in. Who can we turn to for help when we have problems with our friends?Step 2. Fast reading: Read the title of the passage and the first sentence of each paragraph, and try to get the main idea of the letter.(Sarah, who got a D in a _ math quiz, feel _by her friend Hannah, who didnt _ having let out the secret.)Step 3. Listening Training:Listen to the tape carefully and then decide which ones are true(T) and which ones are false(F).1.Sarah and Hannah have been good friends since primary school.2. Sarah usually gets good marks at school.3. Sarah thought the math quiz was quite difficult and was worried about the results.4. Hannah promised to keep the secret.5. The next day, the math teacher put a piece of paper on her desk which read, “Sarah got a D”.Step 4. Careful reading:Read the passage to find the answers to the following questions.1.Why do you think Sarah and Hannah could be good friends before ?2.What did Sarah think about the surprise math test?3.What did Sarah tell Hannah in the girls washroom?4. How did Sarah feel after finding a piece of paper on her desk?5.Why did Sarah tell Hannah that they werent going to be friends any more?Step 5. Retelling:Retell the passage according to the questions above and some key words.In Sarahs letter, -Activity 2 A friendship in troubleStep 1. Fast reading: 1.Is the writer of the second letter feeling happy or sad?2.Whats Andrews purpose of writing the letter ?Step 2. Listening Training:Listen to the tape carefully and then decide which ones are true(T) and which ones are false(F).1.Andrew and Matthew used to be good friends.2. Matthew played as well as Andrew in the football match last week.3.Andrew and Matthew quarreled bitterly(激烈地).4.Matthew used to be a quiet boy.5.
